The main goal of High School Party was to not only wrap up a lot of stories, but to also open some up. With the end nearing, we opened up more than enough stories. I won't explain which, but I think they're easy to figure out.

Trust me, it's an idea. A whole new story of the stories of Joel's parent's youth. Nah, that's too much work. We may just get bits and pieces of random stories from their youth through out future stories. And all of those little stories cumulate to one big story. Hmmm, I could play around with that idea.

I don't think I've ever mentioned Joel's mom before. I kind of want her to be one of those characters who's around, but we never see. We only see her in flashbacks. Maybe one day I'll show Joel's mom modern day, but for now she remains out of camera in present day.
My inspiration for Joel's mom (in 1979) was Jamie Lee Curtis from Halloween. I was doing research on 70's looks for teenage girls and I didn't want her to be all flashy or anything, just average. The first thing that popped into my mind was Jamie Lee from Halloween. For some reason that's my idea of average 1970's girl. I shouldn't have grown up with that movie.

I'm trying to acknowledge the fact that it's December 1st in comic continuity. The location of Marville will remain a mystery, but I will say this, there is no Winter. There is only summer spring and fall. So I guess the order would go February - June = Spring. June - September = Summer and the rest is Fall. So don't expect there to be snow in the comic.

I common problem with going from a party, straight to the beginning of the next day is the question of "What else happened at the party?" The answer is a simple one. Nothing. After Kevin and Erica got romantic, Erica explains in panel 1 that Eric asked her if she wanted a ride home, to which she denied because she wanted to spend more time with Kevin. Now, the question you should be asking yourself is "Why did Eric leave without asking Erica how she was getting home?" and that is a question I have yet to find an answer for. Let's take that as a plot hole.
As for chronology, a lot of people may be confused about how things went during the party. It's most told in chronological order, all within a couple of hours.
- Kevin and Claire arrive at the party (Let's say 8:00)
- Eric and the group arrive (Let's say 8:30)
- They split up
- Claire kisses Kevin (as Eric and the group arrive)
- Eric and Mary are in the basement and Eric's spell goes off (about 8:50)
- Joel runs off on Liz (Same time as Eric's spell going off)
- Joel talks to Gwen
- Mary looks for Erica and runs into Sophie for the 1st time (During Joel's talk with Gwen)
- Kevin and Robin talk (About the same time that Eric's spell goes off)
- Mary finds Erica and brings her downstairs (About 9:10)
- Eric's makeover (About 9:30)
- Eric and Mary go upstairs/ Erica and Kevin leave downstairs
- Eric goes his own way and Liz cries to Mary (9:35)
- Joel asks Liz out and they kiss (same time as above)
- Sophie and mary make up (right after above, so about 9:45 at this point)
- Eric is hit on by Steve Steele (10:05)
- Mary and Eric talk/ Eric transforms back/ they kiss (10:15)
- Kevin and Erica look for Claire (9:35 - 10:00)
- FInd Claire and they all make up/ Kevin and Erica kiss (10:20)
(NOT IN THE STORY)
- Eric and company leave (10:30)
- Erica and company leave (12:00, hence why she got home to find Eric sleeping)

The spell check keeps telling me I spelled Jenga wrong. Stupid computer doesn't know how to spell Jenga. I'm spelling it right. I don't need a machine to tell me what to do. Anyways, there are multiple parallels in this comic page along with the first couple pages of HSP. If you figure it out, you get a gold star and if you don't notice that Eric's eyes are weird looking in panel 4, then you can earn my respect.

Here's a little behind the scenes, fun fact for you. When I originally mapped out HSP, I never had this scene in my map (Along with other scenes). That's exactly why I don't immediately script it out. I'll map it first so i have a general idea, then the day of that page I'll think to myself "Okay, I have to progress the story and put this in here, but here's a good place for this gag I just thought of." The only reason I don't write my jokes in advance is because later on, I'll either come up with something I think is better, or I just won't think it's funny anymore. Anyway, so the reason why I included this scene at last minute was for 4 major reasons. 1: I wanted to include a bit more of Steve Steele and show how much of a jerk he could be. 2: I wanted to prove that Steele DOES have magic and Robin wasn't lying. 3: To show that Steele's spell doesn't affect Eric because technically he's not a real girl (We'll get a bit more into that later). and 4: I can't say yet. This comes later.

And so it finally happens, Joel and Liz finally share a kiss. This is the start of a very important relationship coming in later stories. "Love" and "Like" are two very different things. See, at this point, Mary and Eric are comfortable enough with each other to know that they are in love. But, Joel and Liz aren't at that point yet. Will they ever? Maybe someday, but not today. There's a lesson from a love doctor.

I love how Liz is the only character that is overly dramatic and isn't joking when she does it. Like Erica can be overly dramatic, but it's always in a way to cut to a quick gag or joke. Individualism in characters is awesome.

I was worried that Eric's female persona would look too much like Sophie, but it doesn't so I don't have to worry after all. Now, I wanted to talk a bit about the haircut and what it means for Eric when he transforms back. This is a little bit of GLD Comics transformation mythos. So since Eric got his haircut when he was in his Erica form, it won't affect him in his normal Eric form. But now, every time he transforms into his Erica form, this haircut will be applied.So basically, the haircut alters his transformed state but not his normal state. Thank God there's no time travel in this comic or else explaining the mechanics of it would take probably 3 more paragraphs.
